Maya and Patrick married in the historical city of Perugia, a cultural and artistic centre of note in Umbria.
Maya, Patrick and guests stayed in nearby Cenerente, at the Castello dell’Oscano, which dates back to at least 1364.
Oscano features elegant halls with antique furnishings, a charming library and parklands lined with lindens, oaks, ancient pines, cypresses and olives.
From Oscano, Maya and Patrick travelled to the nearby Castello di Rosciano, a magnificently imposing and austere sandstone castle. The castle was built during the Longobardo period – the 5th Century AD – and sits on a hill between Torgiano and Bettona. Consequently, it offers superb panoramic views of Perugia, Assisi and the Umbrian countryside.
A close friend of Maya and Patrick celebrated their symbolic wedding ceremony in the castle gardens.
Afterward, guests enjoyed a delicious buffet of aperitifs and starters in the castle courtyard, overlooking the gardens and the countryside.
Maya and Patrick slipped away to capture photographs in some of the castle’s loveliest setting before rejoining their guests. The couple led their guests into the magnificent and atmospheric Lingarda dining room, for the wedding banquet.
Later, Maya changed into a beautiful second dress, before the couple cut their wedding cake at the castle’s pool terrace.
Then guests lit paper lanterns in remembrance of lost loved ones and released them into the night sky.
The couple and their guests then moved to the Sala delle Armi (the Arms Room) for the spectacular dessert buffet. Maya’s sister showed a surprise photo projection she had prepared specially for the event, before the dancing began.
After their first dance, Maya danced with her father and stepfather while Patrick led his mother onto the dancefloor. Then guests joined them to dance – and party – the night away!
