Trey and PJ exchanged beautiful personal promises and words of love in the delightful seaside setting of Amalfi, during a crisp and bright October day.
A celebratory champagne toast on the sea-view terrace of their suite at the NH Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi was against a stunning skyline.
The hotel, which is perched atop a cliff 80 metres above sea-level, is housed in a historic 13th-Century monastery, replete with an Arab-Norman style church and cloister.
Trey and PJ visited the atmospheric and enchanting cloister then wandered along the pretty bougainvillea-draped walk of the monks with its spectacular views across Amalfi and the surrounding coastline, before leaving the hotel for the picturesque nearby town of Atrani.
Atrani is a tiny and utterly enchanting fishing village, with narrow alleyways, climbing staircases and pretty antique houses, which has truly retained its authentic traditional character and appeal.
Following a bracing cup of espresso on Atrani’s main square, Trey and PJ wandered through the streets of Atrani soaking up the local atmosphere before heading to the little beach and jetty.
The couple ended their romantic passeggiata (stroll) in the bustling town of Amalfi. Once a powerful Maritime Republic – the Duchy of Amalfi – the town is filled with vibrant colour and surrounded by dramatic cliffs and spectacular coastal scenery.
The main square, Piazza del Duomo, is overlooked by the imposing Duomo di Amalfi (the Cathedral of St. Andrew). Trey and PJ walked up the steep and sweeping 62-step staircase to the Cathedral’s façade of striped marble and stone with open arches with lace detailing before walking down to the seafront and onto the promenade to savour the spectacular and romantic views, hand-in-hand.
